HOLIDAY PAY - TEMP WORKERS
What this means is that from the day you commence work with an Agency, you start to accrue holiday pay.
An Agency that does not pay holiday pay or suggests that you must work 13 weeks is breaking the Law and you should seek advice from either the
Citizens Advice Bureau or seek Legal Advice
If you have signed a Workers contract
which states that your holiday pay is inclusive of the rate, you need to enquire as how this is made up as 'rolled up' pay (i.e. basic pay rate + hol pay element) was made illegal in Jan 2008
Since October 1998 holiday pay for Temporary Workers changed from an initial 13 week qualifying period to a day one qualifying Period.
Your pay is calculated by the amount of hours you would work in one full week
Your max entitlement for a full working year is 24 days holiday pay,and will rise to 28 days from 01 April 2009
Recruitment Agencies will include Bank Holidays as part of the 24 days.
A simple calculation is as follows
24 days divided by 52 weeks equals 0.462 per full week worked
So – as an example if you worked 4 full weeks your qualification 1.84 days
If you do not work a full week, then this calculation is calculated
Pro rata of hours worked
